Cover Tab & Cover Types

5steps_covers

Every card needs a cover type. This is what the user sees and will tap on to open the card. The styles for your covers are set in your app themes. Card covers are made up of the following:

Name – take from your card ‘Name’ (under the ABOUT) tab.
Image – from the asset library or uploaded from your computer.
Description – short description of the card, used to ‘entice’ the user to tap on it.

There are normally 5 types of cover styles to choose from:

  1. Full bleed
  2. Full bleed info
  3. Info Card
  4. Avatar
  5. List
  1. FULL BLEED

Where the image sits underneath the title and description.

  • Name: The name is taken from the card name so it will appear automatically,
  • Image: Click on ‘Cover Image’ to select one from the asset library, or upload an image from your computer.
  • Description: You can choose whether or not to add a description. Click on ‘Description’ to add some text. Then switch on the ‘Show Description’ toggle to the on position.
  • Image Overlay: If your text is lost in the image, you can give your image a tint so it displays much more clearly. Click the toggle to the ‘on’ position, then click on ‘Colour Overlay’ to choose your colour (normally black). Then move the slider on the transparency bar to set the transparency. You can also type a number into the ‘A’ box, normally about 45, but keep previewing your cover in the Locly Native app on your device until your happy with it.

2. FULL BLEED INFO

As Full Bleed, but with options to add an icon above the text, plus a distance box underneath the text. The editor includes ON and OFF toggles for ‘Distance’, ‘Title’ and ‘Description’, giving you more control. This type is useful if you just want an icon on the cover, or want to upload your own image with a cover name already on it.

  • Maximum description lines: Click on this option if you want to limit the number of text lines in the description. This helps you to control the look of the cover, espcially if multiple users are editing content.

3. INFO CARD

This cover type shows the cover image, with name and description underneath, with option to show the distance box (Your card location is set in the ‘LOCATION’ tab):

  • Show Location: Switch this on to display the distance box.
  • Distance Icon Size: Increase or descrease the size of the box.
  • Distance Icon Colour: Click to choose the colour and transparency of the location box.

4. AVATAR

This cover type normally shows the cover image on the left, with name and description on the right (this may be different in your app theme).

  • Show Name: Switch the toggle to the OFF position to remove the name.
  • Maximum description lines: Click on this option if you want to limit the number of text lines in the description. This helps you to control the look of the cover, espcially if multiple users are editing content.

5. LIST ITEM

This cover type normally shows the cover image on the left, with name and description on the right. This type is often used to show lists, and for uploading an icon as the cover image.
